Candid Answers to Candid Questions

Good morning, Bookish Orchestration People! I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving! Last week, I asked for some candid questions and I got a LOT. So I posted them all, with their answers, here for you today.  Enjoy!

Kate W.
What is the craziest name you've given a character?
Darius Gardner. I don’t know what possessed me to name a character after a Persian king, but I did it. And he grew into the role. Even if he was only a minor character and a farmer at that. He’s in my book, Be Thou My Vision, in case you’re wondering.

Bethany W.
What gave you the rather unusual idea for the ‘Hymns of the West’ series?
A simple question from a beta-reader, “What’s the next book about?” At that point, I only had one book on my mind, A Mighty Fortress. I didn’t even have any ideas for another book, let alone making this one into a series. I tried not to think about it too much, but the wheels kept on a-churnin’ and an idea flitted through my mind for a book about Joshua becoming a Pinkerton Detective. That idea ended up being book 5 because I came up with a few other ideas.
As for the title of the series, that was easy to figure out once I had the final title for A Mighty Fortress and decided to put the hymn Be Thou My Vision in the second book.

Do you have any new books in the work-in-progress stage?

What if...?

What if Belle's father was the beast? What if something happened in the past to make Belle run away? What if Belle becomes a Christian and decides to return, but her father refuses to see her? My good friend, Amanda Tero, explores these what ifs in her new book, Befriending the Beast.

About the Book

Belle has returned unannounced to the castle to restore her relationship with the king, her father. Her hopes are dashed with the devastating message: "The king refuses to see you." Convinced that God has led her home, she is unwilling to return to Lord and Lady Kiralyn.

Time is running out for the decision that will change her life. When tragedy strikes, will she and her father be pulled further apart or knit together? Could she stay at the castle even if she will never see her father again?

Emma's Match

Franky A. Brown started writing her Jane Austen retellings in May 2015. She started with Pride and Butterflies, then None But You. Now she's published Emma's Match a retelling of Emma by Jane Austen. In Franky's retelling, Emma is a designer who's business is struggling, but she's never failed at anything and she doesn't plan to fail here either. Can she walk the line between friendship and love or will she lose the only man she has ever loved?

About the Book

Emma Wallace has a plan up her sleeve to save her struggling design business, but not a clue what do to about the man who has her heart.

Stealing a kiss from Will Knight years ago ended in an embarrassment she didn’t want to repeat. But when a popular new designer in town starts taking her clients and has eyes on Will, too, Emma decides it’s time to fight for what she wants. The perfectly irritating designer she wants to shove into a hole isn’t the only one who can be down-to-earth and likeable. After all, Emma’s never failed at anything...except walking the line between friendship and love. Crossing it again could mean losing Will’s friendship for good.

About the Author

Franky A. Brown has always called the South home and loves to write about it. She holds an English degree from the University of South Carolina and can’t seem to stop reading. She is the author of women’s fiction and chick lit about life, love, and Southern women.

Surprise!

There are many days when you wake up thinking it will be a normal day and sometimes that's true. But some days you get a surprise. Like I did on Tuesday when I checked to see how Faith is the Victory was doing in the Hot New Releases rankings on Amazon and found this:

When I went to bed the night before, I was in the #2 spot and quite a ways from the overall Amazon rankings compared to the book that is in the #3 spot in the picture. To say I was surprised is an understatement. But super happy, too! Especially when I then read Tarissa's review on her blog!

Missing: A Blog Tour

Howdy, Bookish readers! Today, we've got an author from a special state. Why is it so special? Because she lives in the same wonderful state that I do! Wisconsin. :D But you don't want to listen to me talk about Wisconsin. I'm sure you'd prefer to let Peggy talk about her book. So I'll stop jabbering to you.

Have you ever had to sacrifice something to bring back something or someone you love? Peggy McAloon is here today to talk about the second book in her Lessons from Fiori series, Missing. Elle's brother has been kidnapped. Will she be able to save him?

About the Book

Kidnapping. Monsters. Magic.

Elle's desperate to find her kidnapped brother. She teams up with the winged warriors from the dimension of Fiori to save him, but JJ isn't the only one in danger. What will Elle sacrifice to bring her brother home? Can she fulfill the ancient prophecy and restore the magic of the Bronze Pendant?

You will love this Coming of Age, action-packed fantasy for middle-grade readers. Elle Burton's goal is to rescue her brother. What she discovers is pure evil. The author provides a female role model who strives to overcome her flaws and inspire kids everywhere.

"Missing" blends the magic of a fairytale with the contemporary realities of the world today's youth inhabit. You will discover a new world order through the journey of a young girl who exhibits both compassion and jaw-dropping courage in her quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy. Find yourself caught in the ultimate struggle between good and evil. "Missing" is the second book in the "Lessons from Fiori" series.

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog. After starting a new side venture orchestrating blog tours, I have decided to start a new blog specifically set aside for blog tours. My wordpress blog will continue on as well and be for my personal Writings, Ramblings, and Reflections.

Since I've already started posting one of the blog tour orchestrations on my wordpress blog, this one won't officially start until June 2nd when Aubrey Hansen joins me for her Red Rain tour. Until then, check out David Millican's blog tour over on my other blog.
