About the Book

For Hailey Grace, birthdays suck! She hopes with all her heart that her big day passes without gifts, or even a birthday wish. But with loving parents and two witty best friends who keep her on her toes, there’s no telling what adventure Hailey Grace will be forced to explore this time. Unexpectedly, her best friend Alex challenges her to do something she’s never done before. With that comes a whole new set of rules, and another life Hailey isn’t sure she’s quite ready for. Now questioning all that she has ever believed, she takes Alex up on the dare by asking for something that no one but God can give her. Her request also comes with a twenty-four-hour deadline. As the minutes slowly but surely tick by, Hailey’s life shifts into overdrive and she wonders if she has asked for too much too soon.

Author Interview

Good morning, Beloved and thank you for stopping by my blog!

1. What is your writing process? Do you outline before you start? My writing process is a bit different every time. Depending on what I’m writing and how long I’ve been sitting with the idea in my head. Typically, every story for me begins with an idea and a character that I absolutely adore. From there I listen to music that defines my character, and that process makes her even more real to me. Afterwards her words, thoughts, and actions come naturally and before I know it, I’m a few chapters into the novel.

2. How do you develop your characters? Do you use images found online, a Pinterest board, character sketches, or develop them as you write? I really enjoy this question because developing my characters are probably my most favorite thing about writing. I have to say when I’m developing my main character, I stay away from what I know and who I know. During this process I don’t usually read other books especially by authors who are writing in the same genre. I don’t want to create a clone of what is already out there. However, I do like to start with an attribute that is worthy, honorable, and godly. For example, I love the woman Ruth in the Bible! I like to create characters that encourage me to want to be better in every aspect of my life. That’s like a must for me when I’m creating my main character. I desire him/her to ultimately be someone I can learn from and look up to.

3. What is your best advice for getting rid of writer’s block? If you would have asked me something like this years ago, I know my answer would be totally different and perhaps long and drawn out. Simply put. PRAY!!!

4. If you could share one piece of advice that you wish someone else had told you to an aspiring writer, what would it be? Once again PRAY!!! That is the very first thing anyone should do before they make a commitment to do anything. Because writing is a commitment and a responsibility. Like any commitment, it shouldn’t be taken lightly, and it should both honor and serve Jesus Christ as well as those who you will be held accountable for. Writing is a ministry, and as authors we are responsible for the well-being of every reader who are drinking in our words.

5. What is your favorite genre? Hmm…that’s a tough one. I think I’m going to have to say Christian Fiction.
